Sound Design Class Session 3: Contemplating on Final Oiece

Session Review

Continuing from my audio research, I was informed by my lecturer Kevin to choose three main ideas for my and describe what emotion and atmosphere I am trying to convey using no less than one hundred words each.

Getting aquatinted with Sound Track pro
My primary idea is to use my existing recorded sound effects of trains , car engines and other various machines to create a short story of either a detective hired by a client to investigate the disappearance of a local factory worker. The detective then travels to the factory location and inside the factory, the main character uncovers the production of either robot, war machines or doomsday device.

However, the reason why this is my primary concept is simply that after watching the documentary on Walle E. The sound designer Ben Berts used various objects such as a guitar string to record laser sound effects

The second concept that currently comes to my mind is of another bystander this time the bystander is in the wrong place in the wrong time and encounters murder and the murders notice them and hunt eh witness and it would be emotionally effective if the story ended with a cliff hanger.

The third idea is to change the sound effects and music of film in order to create a different tone to a particular scene or film trailer.  An effective example of this is a trailer where they change the music and edit the scenes to create a Mary Poppins horror trailer known as Scary Mary which was highly effective.

To conclude my fourth idea is to adapt a fairy tale possibly the tale of Red Riding Hood, Aladdin or of well-known novels such as Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland.

Furthermore, later during the session I opened the audio program Soundtrack Pro and attempted to learn its interface and utilities by creating a thirty-second sound piece conveying a certain atmosphere.

In addition, I ill need to organize and place my own foley sounds in categories similar to Logic Pro or Sound Track Pros sound library. Furthermore, the short piece I have created has an excellent atmosphere simply by listening to the Sounds Tracks library of sounds and currently it is developing into either an old western town or a haunted landscape.
