Noir Session 10: A Fresh Review and Perspective

 Session Review

Cleaning up my noir audio story Mechanical Terror. Found new robotic footsteps from sounds resources website and edited Nickelodeon robot left and right footsteps, with the following effects. Pitch Shifter > Dark Lord and Reverb > Great Hall (figure a), the former used to turn the captured sound into my own effect and add more menacing weight and threat through the deeper bass and the latter effect simulating the heavy steel killer robot is stomping inside a warehouse down the street in an urban city area.

Additionally, other scenes involving the anonymous caller giving the detective information deserved to have effects that made Toms dialogue sound as if they were coming from a phone instead of sharign the room with the detective. Alongside this sound effect error, the detective in true noir film fashion deserved to have his mental thoughts sounds as if the detective was speaking to himself mentally and a suitable effect  has been applied, both fixes displayed in figures b and c.

Furthermore, many of the killer robots scenes such as its activation involving inding gears and a roraring motor needed to suitably blend from effect to effect. The result is something far more tedious, mechanical and threatening rather than rough sound effects that que at each key stage in the script ruining th immersion.

One major sound effect for the activation of the robot was a roaring and abrupt engine roar before firing into life stomping and terrorising,.
